About Angela Mirro
For
the last thirteen years, the New York International Orchid Show
has been blessed in having a botanical illustrator as one of its
members. Her name is Angela Mirro. During this
ten-year period, Angela produced breathtaking paintings of
orchids from live specimen plants belonging to our society
members. These paintings have been reproduced to generate
our award winning show posters. For her work and devotion to orchids and
orchid illustration, the Greater New York Orchid Society
presented Angela with the lifetime achievement award.
Angela
Mirro studied art at Parson's School of Design. After
graduating, she developed a career as a textile designer, while
continuing to paint watercolor landscapes and florals.
Over the past twelve years, she had focused on botanical
paintings of orchids. She also freelances as a textile
designer for the home furnishing market. Her clients
include the Polo line of Ralph Lauren, Williams-Sonoma, Inc. and
Lee Jofa in New York.
