The Officers and Directors of the Greater New York Orchid Society (GNYOS) are saddened to report the sudden passing of our dear President, Aric Wilt. We all recall Aric's presiding over our monthly meetings. His was a very unassuming, gentle man. What you may not know about him is that he was a native Californian, born in Sacramento. Since July 2003, Aric worked at the Hospital for Special Surgery as Manager of the Managed Care and Charity Program.

Aric has had been involved with the GNYOS for a long time. Prior to becoming President of GNYOS in 2008 he served as a a trustee and later as Vice President responsible for our monthly programs. Early on with the New York International Orchid Show he was actively involved with the GNYOS Boutique and plant registration for judging. In 2006 and 2007 he served as a Co-Vice Chair of the show and was responsible not only for overseeing plant registration and many of the facets of the Boutique but also coordinating the production and funding of the Show booklet and assisting with most other facets of the show. He remained committed to finding a way to bring an orchid event back to New York City.
